About MQ Rewritten
What this project is, and how it's made.
This game is programmed with AI
The game client, this website and our changes to the server were written with Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, using its coding tool Claude Code. A person decides what to build, tests it and makes the final calls, but the AI wrote most of the code. This page and our changelog were written with Claude too.
We want you to know that before you play. AI can make mistakes, so you may run into bugs. If you do, please tell us on the Help page.
The game's art, music and sound effects come from the original game.
Why we rebuilt it in Godot
The original client was built on a version of Unity from over a decade ago. Instead of keeping that running, we rewrote the client from scratch in Godot, a free and open-source game engine.
- Modern: Godot is actively developed, so the game isn't tied to old tools that have stopped moving forward.
- Fast: it's lightweight, which keeps the game quick to load and smooth to play.
- Cross-platform: one engine can reach desktop and mobile, and that's what makes a mobile version possible.
The server and source code
Our server is a fork of MQReawakened, built by FeroxFoxxo and its contributors. This project wouldn't exist without their work.
The server is licensed under the GNU AGPL v3, and the source for the version running here is available at github.com/kalix123/MQRewritten.
MQ Rewritten is a fan project. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the original game's developers or publishers.
